It's a lot of fun to play with big coffee-making machines! Bluestockings is a perfect laid-back environment to learn in, so I don't feel weird saying, "This is my first cappucino; please be patient." And the staff member yesterday encouraged me to give drinks for free if I didn't make them right, so that made a lot of people happy, and made me a little less nervous.

And this speaks to the power of words -- I did scald myself, once, on my last drink of the night (small hot cocoa: 1 1/2 scoops free trade coco, steam and froth the milk, then pour the milk into the cup, stir halfway, then pour the rest, then add a little froth). When will I really believe that if I keep saying something will happen, it will? I didn't think it was that bad last night, but this morning I have blisters on the first two fingers of my left hand.

And she has the quiet realization -- Those are my knitting fingers!!

ouch! i burned myself while serving up food in a cafeteria once. the manager (my brother-in-law) plunged my entire paw into a bucket of ice water, which saved the day. i'm sorry you have blisters. hope they heal quickly!

i did find bluestockings online. looks like a really great place.

nah. I ran cold water over it last night, then I slapped some bacitracin stuff on it this morning and put a Band-Aid over it. I'm kind of grossly excited to see what emerges when I take off the Band-Aid tonight.

I hear ya. The important thing is: don't drop the hot liquid when it burns you! It'll only make with the more scalding. Only all down your front and pants and no esta bien mi amiga.

Pardona Mi, allez au la maizon de tu, c'est ne pas bien de trabajo todos los nuevos!

yikes! my first day washing dishes in a cafe,
i came home with blisters on the backs of my
fingers. they healed pretty fast. can't think
what i did to them, though.
be careful:
you DO call yourself real live
bleeding fingers!
