I'm surfing the Friday night network television offerings, and I see the show "Luis" for the first time. I'm pleased that Fox is expanding its vision of America. These are good steps. I mean no disrespect to the issues of racial diversity in the media.
But I will ask this question:
Why is it acceptable for a man who looks like Luis Guzman (a definite "character actor" type by mainstream standards; I might even call him Ugly if I were being judgmental) to have a self-titled primetime show -- but Sara Rue, a beautiful young life-sized woman, has to bear the indignity of a primetime show entitled "Less Than Perfect"?
This question bears serious consideration.

Date: 2003-10-17 05:53 pm (UTC)This morning at the gym, I noticed Vince Naughn on the cover of Details magazine. I stared (cuz I loves me my Vince!) and noticed an article entitled "How Tony Soprano Made Heft Hip". Do you think Cosmo will ever do a similar article? No, I didn't think so either.
