The milk ran out, but I'm still smiling.
Sep. 4th, 2003 08:57 amThis morning:
But I'm going to have a good day, regardless. This is why:
I have had some bummer birthdays in the last quarter century. This will not be one of them.
- I tripped over a power cord and knocked over my trashcan
- My cell phone died again without warning and when I plugged it in, it didn't remember the time or date
- The milk went sour several days early
- Garrison Keillor had a poem (that couldn't even be reprinted so I could read along) about a dying cat, and the birthdays of nobody that I know or love
- It's gray and rainy
- No land phones in my apartment work right now, so I only know someone's calling when the answering machine picks up
But I'm going to have a good day, regardless. This is why:
- My friend is taking me to dinner and to see "The Producers" tonight
- I'm going to wear a skirt even though the weather is nasty
- The executive director at work leaves town today after our staff meeting
- I got several funny e-cards from my family
- CG called early this morning to sing happy birthday to me, which I hoped he would do
- I got a gift certificate with a lovely note from my dear anonymous friend last night
- There's a spot for my bike on the bike rack downstairs
I have had some bummer birthdays in the last quarter century. This will not be one of them.
