Leaving on a Jet (Blue) Plane
Aug. 8th, 2003 10:22 amI'm breathing easier. I found a roommate. Big load off my shoulders. Thanks to everyone who gave me such good advice and support through the up-and-down process of searching for a roommate. Now I will leave town this evening with the feeling that my affairs are in order. Mostly.
CG drove me to work today, a kindness that I am very grateful for, as I didn't cherish the idea of hauling my luggage to the subway in the rain. But secretly, my real reason for asking him to drive me here was that I could spend a few more minutes with him. As we approached Herald Square, "Iowa" came on the radio (WFUV, of course) and I sang along, with all my congested off-key glory. What a way to say "see you later."
I certainly have no idea how to drive my life right now. I think I'll start by going to Napa for two weeks, diving deep into my work, and then I will see what the surface weather looks like when I emerge.
I may be able to pop in here once while I'm gone, but I don't expect frequent access. I wish you all well for the next few weeks. You are all doing marvelous things, and making spectacular spaces in the world for your voices. Take care of yourselves.

Date: 2003-08-08 02:09 pm (UTC)That sounds just about right. You'll hit the "reset" button when you get back. Things might look very different to you when you get back, new and fresh enough to render any pre-planning obsolete.
I can't wait to hear of your writerly exploits, and the progress of the script.
