I wish that my office took half days on summer Fridays. They seem to be the longest days in the universe. This day has dragged by infernally slowly (possibly slowed even further by the lazy, albeit delicious, crooning of Lucinda Williams). I'm ready to pack up my bag, get on the #6, write in my journal with my new pen, and then meet Eleanor to gear up for our picnic on Pier 25.

I especially want to get away from these window-less walls and the stuffy air in here.

I think it's time to go.

Picnic? Ooooh!

I never asked in my pengeekish way what kind of INK you got.

Nothing too exciting. For my Monteverde, I got turquoise cartridges and violet cartridges. And I still have a full bottle of black to use with my Waterman for now. I haven't ventured too far out into the cool ink realm yet, so if you have any recommendations, I'll gladly take them!

I looooooove the Artist Line inks from a Swiss company called Abraxas; they come in 29 gorgeous colors. As far as I can tell, Flax is the only place in the US that carries them. I buy them at the Flax store here in SF, but since that's their only bricks-and-mortar location, you'll have to order online.

J. Herbin inks come in both cartridges and bottles and are readily available at a bunch of places online. The Herbin "gris nuage" (cloud grey) is a lovely blue-toned grey rather than the green-toned grey most other grey inks seem to be, and the "cafe des iles" (island coffee) is a bright sepia, much more vibrant than the standard dark brown.

I know a lot of people are mad for the Private Reserve colors, but I haven't tried any yet.

Thanks for the tips! The farthest afield I've gotten in inks is a bottle of J. Herbin rose-scented ink. I liked it, though the consistency was much more watery than I prefer. These inks are all very tempting...

The J. Herbin inks are the runniest I've used.
