Feb. 13th, 2002 10:23 amStill playing around with all the features of this journal. I just stumbled upon the "edit entries" option. That seems like cheating to me! Revisionism in your own journal. I guess it's only fair to be able to edit an inflammatory post you wrote while sloppy drunk, but on the whole, I think it's weird. You can't take back your words in real life; why should you be able to do it here?
Ahh, but is this real life?

Date: 2002-02-13 11:21 am (UTC)RE: not being alternative and hip enough -- Just to get a rough sense of the demographic of this LJ community, I ran a search for people whose interests include Backstreet Boys, and came up with about 30.
Lyle Lovett... 50 people.
Trembling Blue Stars... 150 people.
Ran a search for Soul Coughing... 780 people.
Sweet.
oh, yeah. welcome.
Date: 2002-02-14 09:09 am (UTC)this medium is insane, as far as information technology goes. it really shouldn't be successful, but i think somehow it adds up to more than a sum of its parts or something. i once saw someone link this page to a post and call for people to link it as well. friends posted it to friends who posted it to friends, etc. the page was linked over 800 times in 48 hours, shooting it into the top ten on that list.
i challenge any website short of theonion.com to generate hits like that. information structures rule.
howdy
