Miscellany: Women in Film

I have two things to say that I keep forgetting to post here:

1) "Blue Crush" is a ridiculously fun film, that's also unexpectedly empowering! (see the lack of cutthroat competition between the Star Surfer and the Wild Card Local Entry)

2) "Bend it Like Beckham" seriously rocked my world. If you haven't seen it -- GO!

2 1/2) I just bought the soundtrack to "Bend it Like Beckham," and it rocks my world just as hard as the film did. I love BritPop. God, I want to go dancing at the Sugarhouse just one more time, with all my friends, on a good Sugarhouse night.

I keep hearing great things about Blue Crush, and just saw Bend it Like Beckham, and loved it!

My friend and I rented Blue Crush on Friday night. We chose it as a "trashy" movie, because we didn't want to have to think too hard. But by 30 minutes into the movie, we were already on the edge of the couch, cheering. Some of those surfing scenes are outrageously exciting.
