If you had very fine, very straight, inch-below-shoulder-length hair, and you were hosting a showcase in a killer black dress on Thursday night , how would you style your hair?
I'm thinking of
schpahky's recent post about make-up and personal style, and I want to sign up for her first class. I'm guilty of having NO CLUE how to do my own make-up or hair. I know how to put lipstick on, and that's about it.
Deep Sigh. My mom used to annoy me with her insistence that I wear make-up, but now I wish I had listened a little better, or that she could fly up here and help me out real quick.

Date: 2003-02-25 07:53 pm (UTC)As for your face, I don't know your coloring (or your face really, for that matter!). But if you can put on lipstick and mascara and a little blush, you're fine. Though I've got to say some glitter under the brow solves a world of ills. And it is a showcase? And you have a killer black dress? You are so set; you just need to make sure your face doesn't wash out under the lights.
Thanks for the link. No makeup guilt allowed. We shall be free!

Date: 2003-02-26 08:04 am (UTC)It's good to know that I don't have to slather on any foundation to even out my complexion, etc. I've got some really antiquated ideas about makeup floating around in my head, mostly gathered from this early 1990s Mary Kay book called "Inside Beauty" that I scoured during the small time during my adolescence when I was interested in makeup. It's good to sweep them out and make room for newer ideas.
I went to M.A.C. this morning and bought some iridescent powder for my eyelids and possibly a light dusting on my shoulders, if I'm feeling adventurous. That stuff is so cool! It's like pixie dust. I'm so excited. I'll definitely post pictures.

Foundation is good if you have really uneven skin, but I personally hate the stuff. I only wear if it I have a really glam event to go to. A bit of concealer where needed, some cheeks and lips and eyes, some spangles, and you'll shine.
Yes, post pictures, please. Good luck tonight!
