Happy New Year
Jan. 2nd, 2003 08:45 amI hope everyone's celebrations were excellent. CG and I enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies (really good ones), and listening to fireworks outside my bedroom window as we fell asleep close to midnight. Low-key, peaceful. Yesterday we went to brunch with the beautiful people, then trudged through the icy rain to see a movie. And last night my dear friend and her boyfriend dropped by and we all played hearts, and I wish that her job would allow her to come back to NYC, as I miss her daily presence so much.
I have not put ten creative words on a page since I wrote a novel in a single month. This break from writing has been mostly intentional, as I had a long scarf to knit for CG for Christmas. But this morning I realized that I will have to sit down soon and start again. I look at both my absence from and my return to writing calmly, regarding neither as a life-or-death action, but simply a part of my life's movement.
