Up on the roof

Hi loves. Still alive, here. After a month of sickness, I'm back in the world and having fun. Right now, I'm sitting in a fold-up chair on my rooftop, enjoying the cool breeze and warm sunlight. I love it when wireless internet works!

I came up with a good mantra today: "I AM what I've been waiting for." It's not a book deal, or a produced film, or a feature article that will make me happy. I am what will make me happy.

Rinse, repeat.

ETA: A seagull just perched on the roof of the school across the street and honked its song, beak open wide, instantly evoking the open horizon of the ocean. It's the seagulls in Brooklyn that remind me that I live on an island. Just a few miles from the beach. This fact always amazes me!

I brought the orange one up here to sit with me. I had to put down a trash bag and a quilt so his entire body wouldn't turn black from the roof. In the sunlight, the white fur behind his ears shows more clearly. He's getting to be a little old man, and I'm so grateful that he survived the surgery this summer to be sitting here with me, sniffing a breeze, then rubbing his nose on the quilt. I love this guy.

Hey Ladybug! I'm sorry to hear you've been sick but happy to know you're better and out there soaking up good sun and orange dog love. I like that mantra too and may have to incoroporate it into my philosophy. xo
