[livejournal.com profile] lisalemonjello gave me the letter "B" to list 10 things that I like. What can I say? [livejournal.com profile] freak1c left this morning for a four-day conference, my brain is fried, and I don't want to do the work I should be doing. These moments are what memes are made for! So here we have it:

Books - need I say more? Currently, I'm hungry for really good novels that transport me somewhere amazing. But I'll read almost everything.

Blue Bell Ice Cream - I praise it to everyone. A delectable ice cream, native to Texas and available in select Southern states. Not in NYC. My mom always stocks the freezer with a few half-gallons when I come home for Christmas. It is, simply, the best damn ice cream in the country.

Baking - especially when my mind needs a break and my hands want to create something simple and sweet.

Beach - two summers ago, [livejournal.com profile] freak1c and I spent so much time on the beach, we dreamed of becoming beach bums. I want to do that again this year. There's something about watching a vast body of water ebb and flow that derails my brain and gives it a rest.

B. - okay, this would be my sister's name, but I'm recently paranoid about linking this journal with my real life name, so I'll keep her encoded for this public entry. But yes, I like her a lot. She's spunky, cool, funny, and so talented and smart.

Beatles - I read a biography about them called "A Day in the Life" years ago, and I'm still drawn to the story of their collaboration and creative process. I'm no super-fan, but I like reading about their work together.

Breakfast - my favorite meal of the day. Usually Cheerios or some kind of cereal. I love it.

Beauty - not just the stereotypically "beautiful" things (sunsets, babies, women, etc.), but also the surprising points of beauty that tear through the normal fabric of life. Startling beauty.

Beans - refried, black, red, pinto, green, mung - you name it, I like it. Even lima beans. (I can just hear my mom say, "NOW you like them!"

Boots - I'm always trying to buy new boots for myself, even after I have several completely functional pairs.

P.S. I'm supposed to assign a letter to anyone who comments on this post, so be ready if you comment!

Ok, you of ALL people need to read Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair if you haven't already. I just finished it last night. Quirky futuristic detective story that's a must for all English-type people. Of which I am clearly one. ;p

ps. Blue Bell= The Bomb.

Hm, I shall put it on the library list!

And you, my dear, are assigned the letter "L"!

How's about that letter "w"? (I write that with no political agenda; it's just that my eye caught the watch on my desk.)

Have you read anything by Paolo Coelho? So far I've loved everything I've read by him, but The Alchemist and The Pilgrimage were my favorites.

I also love love love boots and breakfast food!

I never have read him. He goes on the library list, too!

Your letter is "K".

Hooray for Blue Bell! I'm envious that you like beans. I pretty much only like black beans. Lentils are okay, too. I will eat green beans if they are drowned in garlic or bacon or something.

I may have been overstating my bean preference in the middle of my drowsy workday, but I'm pretty sure that I do like most beans. I might have that garlic/bacon/oil requirement for some that I just can't remember right now.

All right, you get the letter "G".

I agree with...allllmost everything here (maybe if you gave me beans for breakfast I'd like it more--which reminds me of the immortal Henry Gibson poem "My Mom Gave Me Beans For Breakfast" from Laugh-In, but anyway), and enjoy this meme as a concept. I'm much too exhausted and California-prepping at this moment to write back about anything, but, yeah, I could go for a letter once I get back. ("Get back, get back to where you once belonged..." See, you knew I had to make this thematic, didn't you?)

Travel safely!!

I'm here right now, home slice! Commenting from [livejournal.com profile] echoboom's mo-chine o' dreams. Which means I'm once again in the wrong area of the state to see you (again: arrrgh!), unless Coachella is in your immediate plans...

So close, yet so far!! Curses. Coachella ranks up there more with my dreams than my plans. If I had $65 to spare, a working car, and two days to take off of work, that'd be fine. However, not so much.

Still, my heart bleeds at the lost opportunity to see Tool and Massive Attack. BLEEDS. You'd better write up something good about this, Mr. Rivet. ;)

I would kill for a plate of refried beans and a bowl of Blue Bell.

Not necessarily together.

But not necessariyly not together, either.

Lady, you are a genius. I read your first line and thought, "Hmmm... refried beans and Blue Bell.... it could work!" I love the way you think.

And your letter is "P"!
