Sleepytime
Jan. 17th, 2006 02:04 pmHow is it possible that I slept for most of the three-day weekend, and still want to take a nap this afternoon?
One of my hopes for the New Year ("resolutions" sound awfully grim) is that I will have fewer evening meetings for work, and more time to hang out with friends and CL. This weekend was a spectacular step in that direction.
On Friday night, we got to babysit for our dear friends J. & J., which meant we spent the evening with their ever-charming daughter, who is just over six months old now. We had to try very hard not to eat her little fingers and toes, as they are unbearably cute.
We slept most of Saturday, and it was awesome. The temperature dropped below freezing and stayed there, which gave us little incentive to go outside except to walk the dog and eat breakfast at our local greasy spoon diner. At the end of the evening, we braved the fierce winds and did a little shopping in Soho, but were quickly blown home again to watch some "Angel" episodes and then pass out.
On Sunday, we did more sleeping (seriously, it was blissful), and then went to the Village to celebrate one of my best friends' birthdays. It was a low-key gathering of interesting people, some I hadn't seen in a while, and it was an honor to celebrate with this amazing gal.
Yesterday, more sleeping, dinner in Chinatown, and then a little bit of work at the end of the day. I could seriously use some more sleep today, but this week is already stressing me out a little, as most of the nights are full. Even when they're great activities, my brain contracts to see such a full calendar. When will I have time for lounging and staring at the wall?

Another New Year's hope is that I'd also love to resume posting about these normal lifetime activities in this journal. Recently, I was thumbing through old posts, and I remembered that I used to post this kind of thing all the time. Now, I'm glad that I did, because I might have forgotten all of these little moments otherwise.
