For me, "Across a Wire" was produced specifically for these kinds of days: vaguely drowsy, unmotivated, contemplative (with a lining of self-pity).

What albums do you listen to on this kind of day?

Off the top of my head...

Boy, you said it, pal. What a crummy, blah day. What I ended up listening to (because it's in the big pile of Stuff That Must Be Listened To in the car) were Paul McCartney's Flowers In The Dirt and the Little River Band's Reminiscing: The Twentieth Anniversary Collection. In other words, euphoric pop songs with electromagnetic melodies that force you to sing along. They combatted the depression pretty well. Particularly "My Brave Face" and "Cool Change".

But what kind of album best captures the mood of today? Ahh, lessee...something more like Morphine's yes or Cure For Pain, Golden Earring's Naked II, Massive Attack's No Protection, Throbbing Gristle's Greatest Hits, John Lee Hooker's Complete 50's Chess Masters, plus broodier Fleetwood Mac ("Storms", "Brown Eyes", "Never Going Back Again") and probably a good chunk of Nick Drake. If it was winter, Nine Inch Nails' still.

Then again, the vaguely drowsy nature of this day may have made me unmotivated to produce a more accurate list. I contemplate...pitying myself.

Definitely Brian Eno's Before and After Science.
Once upon a time, the Sundays' Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. Also, Duncan Sheik's first album, which he later criticized for being "too commercial", but which always seems sufficiently languid and lovely to me!
