Hey y'all. We're back from vacation, and it was restful in exactly the right ways. Hopefully I will get around to writing up a few things I learned, but if recent LJ history repeats itself, I'll never get to it. While at the beach, I got two new article assignments in two new (national!) magazines, both of which pay industry standard for first-time writers. I am SO PSYCHED. Of course, they gave me short deadlines (today at 5pm and Thursday at 5pm), so I hit the ground running.

I want to hear what you've been up to. I'll do my back-history commenting soon, but I want brags and quick updates here now, if you please. Whatcha been up to?

Yep! I haven't placed any features yet. I'm still working up my freelancer's confidence and contacts. Hopefully in the new year!

welcome back!

I went to New Orleans and saved hundreds of dogs, even kicking in doors of homes...
Dumped Jeff, still haven't been able to tell Brad how I feel about him.
Bought a new digital camera... and got 3 new daily doggie clients, making me now profitable instead of operating in a deficit!

Damn girl, you've been busy! I'll have to take a moment to thoroughly read about your time in New Orleans. Thank you for your hard work.

Hey! Glad to hear vacation was good.

In the past week I have gotten beautiful flowers for my office, bought fifty books from the library sale, went to an all-city rave and then an all-city S&M fest, met Neil Gaiman, extended feelers to a possible job in London, and got Mom and I dinner reservations at Chez Panisse for my birthday.

Wow, and yet somehow I'm in a bad mood today. How is this possible?

I've never seen Sixteen Candles either. Is it good, twenty years later?

Yoga makes me nauseous. Not sure why, but every time I try it, I feel sick.

congrats, first of all!

i am:
considering the freelance route for technical writing,
trying to figure out how to get out of corporate america but still earn a living,
deciding which story idea to choose for nanowrimo (i have 4 solid ones),
making lots of jewelry and will have a jewelry "party" in november,
as in love as ever with hubby,
making good, solid, fabulous, real, deep friendships,
and generally enjoying and feeling grateful for my life.
