Last night, I had a dream that I was walking through New York, and there were KKK members roaming the streets. It seemed strange; they weren't completely dressed in their sheets and hoods, but they looked like they were getting ready for a march or something. They were intimidating people (mostly black people) by lunging forward at them as if they were going to attack. I was appalled by this sight and whenever I saw a KKK member approach a black person, I put myself between them, as if my being white was a diffuser of their hatred and violence. In this dream, it was, so the KKK member would undetonate and just walk away.

As I walked, I got closer and closer to wherever these members were meeting, and I got scared. There was an older black woman near me, maybe in her 50s, and she and I looked at each other. I said to her, "I'm scared. Will you hold my hand?" and she did. We crossed the street together, and she said, "Let us pray." We prayed for peace and the end of the ignorance and pain that makes people hate; we prayed for protection of ourselves and the ones we love. We felt safe even though we were surrounded by these KKK members in full garb.
