1. one of your favorite authors/celeb/poets reads and loves one of your pieces of literature: who are they and what is the subject?
Germaine Greer reads my popular feminist book, and thinks, “Now that’s a woman with some serious Pussy.”
Or Adrienne Rich reads a book of my poetry and smiles.
Or Tina Turner watches one of my movies about a strong woman and thinks, “That script came from one divine woman.”
Or perhaps Christian Bale reads a novel about a wild woman who lives out her dreams and develops a severe crush on me. Haha – turnabout’s fair play, you devilishly handsome Brit!
2. you have a five minute window on public tv to do with what you want. what do you do?
I’d like to say that I’d give an impassioned speech about love and peace, but what I really, really want to do is dance – a Napolean Dynamite balls-out completely freestyle dance.
3. who deserves a pie in the face?
Bill O’Reilly. Okay, everyone over at Fox. And the entire Bush administration. While we’re at it -- all of the Democrats in the country. They all get big cherry pies in the face, maybe in the middle of some serious political moment. In my mind, after the cherry filling has finished dripping off of their surprised faces, they pause, and then laugh, guffaw, and hit their knees with the hilarity of it all. They grab onto one another so they don’t fall down with laughter. And then they chill out and start practicing compassion, care, and fun. For everyone. In the world.
4.tell me about one small minute moment that inspired you to do something. ( i mean, some small thoughtless task that grew into something)
Most of the small motions that I made as a roommate tofreak1c. I feel like every small kindness that we offered each other as roommates blossomed into the relationship that we have today. In that vein, the nervous phone call that I made in October 2003 after I’d been devoured by rage and anger at him for two weeks. It has a place in the story as much as the kindness does.
5. what’s your favorite tv show?
Ooh, tough one. “Coupling” makes me inordinately happy whenever I catch it on PBS at odd times (the British version, naturally). Alton Brown’s “Good Eats” is a big winner – food and tons of information? I totally have a crush on him. “Angel” is one of my minor obsessions right now. “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” is a new arrival on the “funny as hell” scene. “King of the Hill” is always subversive and brilliant.
