After a break from online movie rentals over the winter months, we are now on Netflix, and before I forget, I want to make another ratings list of the 17 films we've watched.

Part 1 is here.

So here it is, Part 2 of:

The Good, The Bleh, and The Ugly.

Good = anywhere from "I'd watch it again" to "It changed my life."
Bleh = anywhere from "Wait, I've seen this movie? I already forgot about it" to "It was mildly offensive."
Ugly = anywhere from "This movie was regurgitated film formula and bored me to death" to "I didn't finish it because it was so bad."
* = highly recommended!

The Good
Iron Eagle (CL's favorite movie from childhood. It is so 80s that it's good. They mention Ronnie Ray-gun with admiration. Rock on!)
Angel: Season 2: Disc 1
*V-Day: Until the Violence Stops
*Real Women Have Curves
Chris Rock: Never Scared
*Live Nude Girls Unite! (very enlightening and inspiring)
*Silkwood (Cher's performance rocked my world)
Like Water for Chocolate
The Office: Series 1
The Office: Series 2
Super Size Me
*Saved! (Possibly one of my favorite movies now)
Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism
Daughter from Danang: American Experience

The Bleh
Pieces of April

The Ugly
The Village
Poison Ivy 2 (But let's be honest; we didn't rent it for the character development, did we?)

Lots of documentaries on this list, I realize. And not too many bad movies! I'm impressed. Does this mean we're getting better at choosing what films to watch?

As with last time, if anyone wants explanation or my opinion on any of these movies, please feel free to ask.

I enjoyed the Village, although I found it very predictable, but then I'm and M. Night fan. Why did you find it ugly?

I'm an M. Night fan, too, but I felt like this movie was dishonest -- it doesn't feel like a real story that wanted to be told. It seemed too contrived. The story didn't interest me, and I didn't care anything about the characters (their stilted language turned me off almost immediately because it felt so false). I also think the marketing department did the movie a big disservice by billing it as a thriller. If I'd gone into it knowing it was going to be a character study and social commentary, I might have been a little more receptive.

But still, it just didn't do it for me.

Hurmmm

I loved the Village, but in one of those I am a psychology major and that is way creepy that people have the power to make you believe something like that. I saw it at home with Dad on one of my many "catching up on all of Dads movie" watching. I guess it goes to show how much your mind can play tricks on you. And of course I highly recommend any of Angel:) Well I am off...and make sure you get your Christ on! haha i love that movie!!!
