Oh Dar

CG, CL, and I went to see Dar Williams give a free concert at the World Financial Center Plaza tonight. The show was a part of the Hudson River Festival, and it was great. I always come away from her shows wanting to be a rock star and a poet. She's excellent. And the setting was amazing! There was a great breeze off the Hudson, and the sunset blazed through the show. Afterwards, we tossed a frisbee around in a soft-grassed area along the river. Ahhh... life is good.

lucky you! I saw Dar several years ago at McCabe's guitar shop in Los Angeles. It was the first time I'd ever heard/heard of her. I really like her stuff, very witty and fun.

Wow! Dar in a guitar shop! That must have been a great show. This was my second time seeing her; the first was her opening night of the The Green World tour in 2000. She has an amazing way with language that always charms me. I hope you've gotten to know her albums since seeing her!

It was- just her and a guitar and an audience of about 50 or 75. I bought Mortal City because I had to have "As Cool as I Am," but I haven't gotten around to buying her other albums.

For the second Dar album you buy, I highly recommend her debut, "The Honesty Room." There are some marvels on there that always make me stop in my tracks and breathe deeper.

I'm way too jealous for words. I don't think she likes Texas much, she hasn't toured down here in two years.
