Countdown to Home: Four Days
Dec. 13th, 2004 10:03 amIt's a gray Monday and the radiator is hissing loudly next to my computer. I'm playing my new Winter Holidays mix, which includes the Squirrel Nut Zippers' "Christmas Caravan," John Denver & the Muppets, and Jane Siberry's "Shushan the Palace." So good! Mister is sitting on the floor right by the radiator; I think he likes the warmth, but sometimes when it hisses suddenly, he jumps up in shock. Poor little guy.
First of all, I must say how cool
schpahky is. She is one classy lady, and it was great fun to have her visiting our humble abode this weekend. She was patient while I plied her with about 37 hours of music on CD, excited that I could share so much of my favorites with her. She held her own with Mister the Bed Hog, which is not easy (he's so sneaky!). As she walked to the train yesterday, she called me to let me know that the neighbors had just put a box of jazz records on the sidewalk. And best of all, it's incredibly easy to talk with her about anything from Bryan Adams to the Big Things in Life. She's good people.

I'm updating from Mozilla Firefox for the first time. I don't know why it's taken me this long to switch over from Internet Explorer. I haven't used it much yet, but I have faith that it will be far superior. The switch was so simple -- it imported all of my links and bookmarks with no problem. Sweet!
I'm wondering what I'll do today. I have some pertinent reading to do before I go home on Friday, and I would love to take a bath with the amazing lavender bath bomb that
schpahky brought me. But I also have a seven-foot-tall corn plant that I'm itching to repot, which would require schlepping out into the yucky day to buy new potting soil and fertilizer. Hmm... decisions, decisions.
