Dec. 1st, 2004 09:13 amHow can we save our country now?
There are stories of unauthorized napalm use in Iraq, by US troops. Evidently, the US is the only country that didn't ratify the 1980 UN treaty banning the use of napalm against civilians. Sick, sick, sick. Once again, we've destroyed a city to save a city, the New York Times -- a fairly progressive newspaper -- declared this morning that "Major Concern in Fallujah Will Be Trust" instead of "Pig-headed US Refuses to Learn from History", and the citizens of the world think that I, a US citizen, want this to be done in my name. Mercury is in retrograde, but that just doesn't cut it for explanations of the bleak morning I've woken up to.

edit: in slightly promising news, at least someone in the US media is calling the support of Ukrainian protesters a "rank hypocrisy."
