I WON! I WON! I WON!!! The novel is finished! In 15 days of writing, I won the NaNoWriMo challenge! YES!!!! And I even came up with a clever title at the very last minute of writing it: "The Welcoming Back." (Five points on an imaginary point system to the person who can correctly identify its source.)

Later, I will read it and see if there's even 5000 words worth keeping, but now, I CELEBRATE!

Yay!

"The Welcoming Back." (Five points on an imaginary point system to the person who can correctly identify its source.)

How can this not involve the Sweathogs and Gabe Kaplan?

Now I'm sheepish for putting out my title challenge when there are such musically literate people on my list. Your answer is beyond my comprehension! Alas, it is a reference to Dar Williams' song called "The Ocean": "You are the welcoming back from the ocean." Who are the Sweathogs and Gabe Kaplan? Intriguing names, I tell ya.

lol.

Sometimes I forget we're not from the same generation!

The 70s TV show "Welcome Back, Kotter" starred Gabe Kaplan as a teacher who, as I recall, returned to his old high school to teach a bunch of reprobate teenagers known as The Sweathogs. One of the Sweathogs was Vinnie Barbarino, played by a newly discovered actor named John Travolta who soon became a teen heart-throb. The theme song "Welcome Back" was a big hit, by John Sebastian, formerly of The Lovin' Spoonful.

Ah! It seems like most people in my generation do know that TV show, but for some reason, I completely missed it. Thanks for the update!

Congratulations. Well done. Plus, you can now mine 10 5,000 word short stories from it, and turn into this year's literary sensation.
