I fell in love with the Amélie soundtrack today. My sudden need to own the music TODAY was the culmination of a couple of days of longing for this soundtrack over the past month. Mind you -- I didn't like the movie when I first saw it. I was in a place of anti-romanticism, and I only felt intimidated and angered by the main character's charm and flirtation with life and adventure. Then I saw it a year later, and I liked it okay. Then I saw it again, and again, and now I just love it. I woke up last week with the music in my head, and it inspired me to wear the brightest colored clothes that I own (lime green skirt, purple wraparound sweater, purple and black striped tights, navy blue scarf, magenta hat, and periwinkle blue raincoat). And today, I decided that I had to hear the music. So now I own it, and I'm completely charmed by the piano version of La Valse D'Amélie. If I still had access to my grandmother's baby grand piano on a daily basis, I would be sitting down and teaching myself this song by ear. It's the kind of song that I want to play passionately, letting the music sweep me away.

In other news, NaNoWriMo starts next Monday, and I haven't yet done any pre-thinking. Whee! I'm excited about it this year. It will feel good to loosen up my creative brain and just play.

well, i'm going to try! last year i wrote that novella that was ill-concealed autobio. this year i plan to attempt an expansion of a little story-thingy i wrote as a whim last year, about a rock band in bloominton IN. it may turn out i have no story-telling talent whatsoever, but what better place to find out than in this format?
daisydumont, originally enough!

Having read your journal for several years now, I can personally vouch for the fact that you do, indeed have story-telling talent. I'm sun_set_bravely over there as well. :)

Whooooaaaa! That's wacky and cool all at once! It must be a sign for me to remember to tell you that CL and I might be in Boston this weekend for Halloween. If we are, might I call you and try to meet up with you? If you're feeling better?

You know, I didn't. But I'm sure I'll wear it again, and when I do, I'll be sure to take a picture. It's an incredibly cheerful outfit!

I think it's cool when a movie changes for me like that. I didn't like Annie Hall when it first came out, but now I do. I do even though I'm not an admirer of Woody Allen's non-movie ways. But it took a few viewings to grok its fullness.

I think it's great to do nanowrimo without thinking at all! What a great writing exercise. The novel impromptu!
