Atlantic Antic
Sep. 26th, 2004 10:21 pmEvery year, on the last Sunday of September, 1.5 miles of Atlantic Avenue is shut down for a big, fabulous street festival called Atlantic Antic. Throngs of people come to Atlantic Avenue to enjoy music, street food (corn dogs, zeppoles, funnel cakes, Italian sausages, fried chicken, pad thai, etc.), tons of booths with handmade jewelry, clothes, housewares, and did I mention food? Even though it's officially fall, it felt like the last blow-out summer street festival. The weather got up to 82 degrees, and the sun kept the day almost hot.
We walked over there this afternoon, and spent about four hours walking to the end and back. We shared a blue bubble gum snow cone, which I haven't had in years, and it was tasty.
Here are some pictures from the day:

This one made
freak1c laugh.

You can find the picture of this Gyro Lady at Greek restaurants all over the City. But I think this was a small convention of Gyro Ladies. I count four. It was a little creepy.

Snowcone!
And finally, my favorite, and the source of my new icon:

"I-eee-I am the Corn King.... yeeeaaahh!"

Date: 2004-09-27 05:41 pm (UTC)the end of sept. must be festival season all across the country - i too partook of a snow cone for the first time in a looong time (pineapple flavored) and a roasted corn at oktoberfest in the town of addison (where watertower is)... but my roasted corn was, sadly, not by the original corn king.
