Oh! American Girls!
Jul. 6th, 2002 04:07 pmSuch a long absence! Hello everyone and I have missed you all. I'm back in NYC and recovering from a weirdo strep-sore-throat thing that struck me the night after I returned from England. Damn strep throat. Because of my deep and abiding fear of throat cultures, I didn't go to the doctor for antibiotics to relieve the pain, so I've been drinking 3000 ml of water a day and chugging Vitamin C and Zinc for the past week.
But now I'm back! Today I need to write a letter for my paternal grandparents' 60th anniversary. My stepmother is making a scrapbook of letters from loved ones and pictures, etc., for the big day. A good idea, especially because I don't know what in the world I could possibly get for a couple who have been married for 60 years (a toaster somehow doesn't seem appropriate), and my words are the best thing I can give a person. 60 Years. That's impressive/horrifying/strangely touching. Wow.
I hope everyone's doing well. See you soon.
P.S. Do you think Adam is singing about these American Girls?

Welcome Back. Kotter.
Date: 2002-07-06 04:05 pm (UTC)Here's what it says elsewhere on the website: "We think being a girl is greatâsomething to stand up and shout about! On every page of our catalogues, youâll see itâs true. Everything we do is a celebration of you!"
Well. I'm feeling left out. I'm sure Adam Duritz is feeling the same way. That's why he's off counting crows.
Congratulations on your return. I'm glad you don't have Mad Cow Strep Throat Disease. Even if you can't talk, that's why LJ is here.

Date: 2002-07-06 04:37 pm (UTC)So funny!! When trying to figure out what the throat illness could possibly be, I quietly ran through the scenario where I had the first human case of hoof-and-mouth disease, and I made medical history, and they had to do all sorts of horrible tests and I was never normal again.
all this to avoid a 5 second strep test.
haha
