Jul. 19th, 2004 01:18 pmI'm restless today. An elephant seal cub flipping sand onto its back on TV seems much more compelling than the pile of papers on the worktable. My eyes are tired and it's hazy outside. There's a road crew filling the small trench outside with tar; I think the construction on our side of the street might finally be done.
I realized consciously today that I'm learning how to write full-time by myself for the first time during the summer months, a languid time that, for most of my life, has been reserved for slowing down, staring out the window, and letting my brain take a vacation. This realization has already made me a little kinder to myself when I find it super-hard to sit down at the table and work on the script. Gently, gently, progress is made.
In other news, I made some killer lime bars on Friday (think: lemon bars' red-haired cousins). Hot damn, they're good! I call them "Two Limes Walked into a Bar." I want to eat the plate of remaining bars and nap on the windowsill.
