Two hours later, she emerged from the kitchen, tired but triumphant. With only a cast-iron skillet and an empty Yellow Tail Chiraz bottle as her tools, she produced a stack of 35 fresh flour tortillas. And they are delicious!

Truly, I am on my way to being able to home-make most of my grocery staples for less money and more satisfaction.

Next: sharp cheddar cheese. Ha!

Three cheers for that!

I once made fresh flour tortillas. I did it without a recipe, and they came out hard and crunchy, but still, they were the best tortillas I ever ate.

Was the bottle full when you started?

Ha ha! They're actually wine-soaked tortillas. It's a new dish I'm working on.

No, no, it was left over from our last dinner party, and I didn't have a rolling pin, so there you have it.

I was more wondering if there was a wine-soaked chef!

Hmm, I don't have a rolling pin either...but we haven't yet taking out the recyling...excellent thinking, Smithers!

If there had been a wine-soaked chef, I would have been the one stacked on the counter, instead of the tortillas!

Haha...
Chris comes home to find you folded in a stack on the counter, covered in flour, nursing an empty wine bottle.. "Were you trying to make tortillas again??"

Mmm, what recipe did you use? I've decided that for apartment-warming gifts I'm only going to ask for cookbooks. ;) I need to know how to make good food. :)

that reminds me, I never got to send you guys an apartment-warming gift! What manner of gifty things do you two dream of?

You are too sweet! Truly you don't need to send us anything, unless you know of a mailbox-sized electrician who would install lighting sconces in our living room (which doesn't have any overhead lighting).

Or how about a NYC visit from Ms. NLG?
