I saw this in [livejournal.com profile] chaptal's journal, and I think it's an interesting meme. I disagree that "we know nothing about each other," because I think emotional reality is at least as compelling as physical reality. But I wonder, what are some of the obvious things about my life that my daily readers don't know?

So here goes. I'll collect all the questions and then post the answers in a big revealing post. And when I put it that way, it makes me a little nervous...

"We all think we are so close, and we know nothing about each other. I'm going to rectify it. I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you."

What traits did you inherit from your parents, and how do you genetically fit into your family?

oh, and I'm going to cheat and ask a second one, because it's an important life question: what is your favorite kind of tea? ;)

It ends up that there were only a few responses to this meme, so I'm going to answer them here, rather than make them a full post.

As far as physical traits go, I look most like my father, and my sister looks like my mother. I inherited my dad's family's stomach problems. As far as other traits go, from my father, I inherited: the strange organizational tool of various piles around my study; the instinct to draw away from conflict into my own mind; the thirst for spiritual knowledge; love of books and reading; shyness; interest in learning about and taking care of money. From my mother, I inherited a love of the Christmas season; cleanliness; love of movies; love of rich, dark colors for walls; computer savvy; fierce independence; fear of losing myself in a relationship; laughter; appreciation for antiques and old stuff in general; distrust of men (though I inherited only a whisper of it); frustration at the old boys network; tendency towards social isolation.

From both, I inherited stubbornness. That's for damn sure.

My answer to your second question is two-fold. For everyday tea, I have to say Earl Grey. It's simple, dependable, but still comforting and full-bodied. I don't have a brand loyalty at this point. For fancier teas, I like a blend called "Sunrise in Tibet", which you can get at the T Salon & Emporium in Manhattan. They describe the blend like so: "Sunrise in Tibet: Tibetan Tiger with a twist of mandarin and thistle. A robust and full flavor in the cup, with an aroma like freshly baked cookies." (Tibetan Tiger is described as "T-Salon’s most popular tea. This blend has notes of caramel, chocolate,

Can I ask two? Well I'm going to :)

Where are you from originally, and what brought you to NYC?

Because I didn't get many responses to this meme, I'm going to answer the questions here rather than make an entire post.

I'm originally from Texas (born in Beaumont, and spent my last years at home in Houston, where my family lives now). I came to NYC for college at NYU, where I studied theatre at the Tisch School of the Arts. Once I lived here a few years, I was bitten, and I've been here ever since. I doubt that I'll stay to raise a family here, but I love living here right now, and enjoying all the amazing things the city has to offer, so I'm digging it while it lasts.
