I expected to go home last night and have a leisurely evening to pack for the weekend retreat, water my plants, eat dinner, take a bath... But when I got home I got a call from my co-writer, who had just received changes on the script that needed to be done immediately. So I spent the next five hours in front of the computer, on various conference calls with my co-writers, rewriting scenes like fiends. I swear, this funky-situation-work-for-hire thing is crazy. It's like I'm a doctor on call 24 hours a day, except that I don't get paid nearly as much as a doctor.

And today, my boss called in sick from work, and I'm leaving at 3pm for this retreat (I repeat, I'm leaving at 3pm -- this is non-negotiable, Universe!), so it's a frantic rush to finish both her and my projects before the office shuts down.

I've developed a tic in my left eye. It started on Wednesday, when I anxiously awaited a phone call about the job. I still haven't heard. The tic has gotten worse.

I'm trying to breathe. Honest.

Whew! Breathe! :)
I developed a tic in my left eyelid a few weeks ago from stress, and when I walked into my Production Supervisor's office and asked her if she ever got physical tics from stress, she grinned and said "welcome to publishing."

Oy vey. That's a funny scene. Did your tic ever go away?

Yeah, it just needed to work itself out. It was spazzing whenever I laughed or squinted or otherwise moved my face in elastic ways. Thankfully it seems to be pretty much gone now. I was worried I was going to start twitching from head to toe. :)

Keep breathing, you'll get the call.

I get those tics in my eyelids too. Annoying. I talked to my doctor about the tics a couple of years ago. He said botox could take care of them!

Week-end retreat? Meditating? Writing? sorry I must've missed your post about it. They are both noble causes to be sure.

Have fun!

oh, and what are you collaborating on?

Don't be bothered about the tic, ok? It will only reside with you temporarily... promise. :)
