Live Journal as Cult

So I just spent the last half hour sending emails to some friends, inviting them to join Live Journal. It feels weird telling them about it. I'm not the best salesperson in the world, so I just end up sounding like a cult member. "Hey, it's really cool, check it out... wanna join? All the cool kids are doing it." Oy.

Tonight I will make broccoli & cheese soup. It's called a soup, but it's thick, so it's more like a chowder. Anyone want to join me for dinner?

Ha! I know what you mean; when I started telling Mom, "oh, you know what I've been up to all week, you've been reading LJ", that's when I knew it was starting to substitute for real conversation. When I'd mention the site to friends and encourage them to join, that's when I knew I was starting to turn into one of those Partnership For A Drug-Free America PSAs from the 80's. "It'll make you feel good...good...good...good..."
