My hands are a mess. The combination of winter and a job where I get at least one paper cut a day have wrecked them. My cuticles wax and wane like the ocean. They creep up my nails, and then all together they break back, causing great discomfort on most of my fingers at once. My knuckles are dry and very sad.

I am in search of a delectable, non-greasy hand moisturizer to heal these beauties. My favorite lotion of all time is Lubriderm, but I'd like to branch out for my hands. They deserve some special lovin'. I'm currently using Avon's Skin So Soft, but I don't adore the smell. I dream of something lightly scented with lavender, or lilac, or something equally lovely.

What do you love to use? What do you recommend? And is there a way to keep my cuticles in check without having to deal with them every day?

Origins hand cream, which doesn't smell like lavender, but works, and has a tub small enough to drop into even a not big purse.

Sally Hanson makes a cuticle cream that smells like apricots. It's in a tiny pot and it's a bit waxy. But when I've bothered to rub it in every night before bed, all my cuticle problems resolved and my nails looked great.

For hands I tend to like Burt's Bees Almond and Honey (or is it Milk?) hand cream in the jar. But it is greasy as all get out, and very strongly scented like almonds, so you'd also have to use it before bed, and love almonds.

The winter/dry weather here has aged my hands by about 20 years! The only things I've found that work for me are:

Cornhusker's Lotion (It's kinda gross, but it works wonders.)
Dream Cream from Lush (Expensive but worth every penny!)

Ditto on Lush. I heart Lush.
I use Curel a lot and a moisturizer from Dermatologica that I almost had to sign my soul away for it was so expensive, but it works really well.

i use aveeno.. i swear by the stuff.

but for serious shiznit, try eucerin.

it's yucky, as in, it's greasy as hell, but that stuff WORKS for severe cases...

I love Origins, Ginger Souffle. It's non-greasy, leaves your skin feeling like buttah, and the smell is exotic and sexy.

By the way -- thank you for the excellent recommendation! I checked it out, and I love the scent of the Ginger line at Origins. I think I'm going to get the souffle and the fragrance spray. I haven't worn a perfume in a long, long time, but I like the way this smells good without interfering with my natural scent. Thank you!

I hear there's this stuff that costs 100 dollars for like .5 oz.

I also hear that Cocoa Butter is good stuff.

I love love love Burt's Bees Milk & Honey lotion -- not in the jar, which is kind of greasy, but in the pump, which absorbs fast. It smells like dessert in the angels' kitchen, too.

neutrogena hand cream...

is FABULOUS!

it doesn't have a lovely smell, but it really works for keeping the hands soft, and even, somewhat, healing the cracks.
