My heart surgery scar has ached and twitched all day long. There is no physical reason that this should be, and yet it is. Do any of you have physical scars that get hypersensitive at times?
I have a scar on my head from brain surgery I had as an infant. It doesn't tingle or itch or anything, but I have noticed that grey hairs grow out of it. It also seems it's more prone to dandruff than the rest of my scalp.
I was only 7 months old and in the baby seat of a shopping carriage. My sister, then three, jumped on the end of the carriage and knocked it over... me in it. I cracked my skull, but when they did an x-ray, they found a tumor in my brain. It was benign, but it was in a scary place, so they took it out.
(years later I had to have my sinuses x-rayed and I discovered that I have little metal clips in my head...)
More than 10 years ago, I slipped on some soda as I exited to the aisle in a theater. When I fell, I hit my right-side ribs on the wooden arm of the seat, which ended up under my armpit when I hit the ground. The impact was hard enough to knock the wind out of me, and I was in significant pain until I could get to the doctor the next morning and have (to my surprise) a spinal adjustment.
Now, when I'm particularly tired or stressed, the place where I hit my ribs twinges and aches.
I have scars from a horse riding accident that will tingle or ache a little, every once in a while, usually when it is really cold outside or there is a drastic change in the weather.
I have a scar from a deep cut I suffered when I stepped on broken glass when I was about 10. It rings my left big toe, and it tingles and throbs every once in a while, although it seems to do that more infrequently the older I get.
i have a scar on my forehead, from walking into an awning. i was about 25, i think. for around twenty years, it itched and twitched and i had a numb spot on my scalp. finally, the nerves all settled down, and i can't find the numb spot now. ~paul
