1. How do you create a home for yourself when you are away from home?
This is an interesting question. I don't feel like I've been away from home very much recently. But when I do go away, I bring my pen, my ink, my journal, a toothbrush, and underwear. These things are the core of my home. When I'm away for a long time (like when I lived in England), I created a home for myself by lighting candles and writing, and thinking. Giving myself time alone in a space makes me feel at home. Letting myself expand into it.
2. What has surprised you the most about yourself over the last year?
That I do, in fact, remember how to dream big, childhood dreams. The second surprise is that now, I know I can make them reality, too.
3. Do you consider yourself at all athletic? If so, how, and if not, what's your favorite sport if forced to play?
Ha! Athletic has never been a word to describe me. In high school, I actually took a correspondence course in tennis to get out of a semester of P.E. If it's play-or-die, I like volleyball, or badminton, though I'm not necessarily good at either.
4. Describe yourself in ten positive adjectives. Sing it loud!
in no particular order...
Smart
Sensual
Compassionate
Perceptive
Captivating
Loving
Curious
Grounded
Sage
Daring
5. What is a hobby that you've gotten away from that you would like to renew? Why?
Writing letters. I like the way my thoughts have to take time to expand in a handwritten letter, unlike the way they have to move in an e-mail or chat situation. And I like getting handwritten letters in the mail.
